A Few Of My Favorite Things

Hey girls! :) I know it's been forever since I posted anything but finally, i'm done with this post! I'm sure a lot of you have tried soooo many make up products and found your favorites. Products really work differently for every girl since we have different skin tones, etc. I've been using make up for a while now and I've tried so many different kinds of make up that I wasn't satisfied with. It's really disappointing to find that a product doesn't work for you after just one use. I made a list of a few of my favorites, which I have been consistently using for a while now. This is to help those of you who are still confused and looking for the perfect concealer, blush, lipstick, eyeliner or whatnot, I compiled a list of products that work for me. :) Hope this helps!

1. M.A.C.'s Liquid Last Eyeliner in Black
Looking for an eyeliner that DOES NOT SMUDGE? THIS is the product you're looking for. It's absolutely IMPOSSIBLE to remove so make sure you have eye make-up remover when you use this. It can stay on for 12 hours and it will still look like you just applied it. I'm not kidding. I really like it because it creates a very solid line that doesn't fade no matter what kind of day I'm having. The downside of this product, however, is that you need to be used to applying eyeliner as the brush is a little difficult to use. Once you get the hang of it though, it's easy to apply thin or thick lines with it. :)

2. Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer
I had no idea what a primer was before I went to make up school. (Thank God I did! Hahaha.) I use this after my toner but before my foundation. I love this product because it gives my face this velvet-y/silky finish, fills in fine lines and my bigger pores as well. This product doesn't only help keep your foundation looking smooth, it also keeps your make up on for longer hours.

3. M.A.C.'s Lipstick in ANGEL
I love love love this shade! :) I'm not really a fan of LOUD colors when it comes to lipstick (I'm not white kasi. haha!) so this is the perfect shade for me. If you're going for that natural look, this shade's for you too. It has that slightly pink and creamy sheen that enhances your natural lip color just enough. I use it for both night and day, just make sure your eyes are a little more dramatic at night. (If you want a pink-er color, I would suggest MAC's Pink Nouveau)

4. NARS Orgasm Blush :
This blush is really an all-time favorite of a lot of make up artists. It's a "flushed peachy-pink color with a gold shimmer" that is said to imitate the afterglow of....ehem. HAHA. (Funny. I asked my dad to buy this for me while he was out of the country, and well.. given the name of the blush? hahaha. I wonder what his reaction was!) I recommend this to anyone since it's a pretty universally flattering shade :)

5. Make Up Forever's Lift Concealer :
I really looooooove this concealer!!! It doesn't crease at all and it blends so well with my skin(It has different shades to suit your skin tone so you shouldn't have a problem finding one for you) I always use it for my dark circles because it never gives me that WHAT-HAPPENED-TO-HER look in pictures where you have patches of white under your eyes. Haha! I use this as an eye shadow primer too cos it  helps brighten my eyes and helps the eyeshadow color pop out.

I use almost all of them on myself and on my clients! I haven't had any allergies with any of the products, but my skin isn't as sensitive as others so make sure to try them out first!

I Love My Girls!

This is a shoot I did a few months ago with my high school friends (who were more than willing to be my models! hahaha!). Special thanks to Carisse Nepomuceno, Cesca Gutierrez, Cara Tan, Ivorie Acosta, Janna Pablo, and Ciara Tolentino for helping me with this. It was a reaaally fun experience for me because there was absolutely no pressure! It was purely for our enjoyment and just a little something to add to my portfolio :)

If you want to create the look for yourself, Carisse and Cesca's make up is just the basic smokey or night make up. What's important with night make up is that it has to be a little more dramatic, especially when it comes to your eyeliners. I used deep olive green eyeshadow on their lids, but make sure not to scatter the eyeshadow too much (You don't want to look like a raccoon). Keep it dark on the lid and blend it upward towards the brow bone. Just keep on blending so the colors look diffused. For added effect, I used Make Up Forever's Star Powder in 955 on top of the eyeshadow. I also used Maybelline's Gel eyeliner in black on their upper lash lines and Mac Crayon Kohl in Black to make it more intense on the upper and lower waterline. Afterwards, I curled their lashes, placed mascara and added faux lashes.

TIP: ALWAYS curl your lashes BEFORE applying mascara. Curling them after may possibly damage them and it also gives you that unnatural right angle "curl".

As for Cara's make up, I just used peach eyeshadow all over her eyelid, and then a dark brown eyeshadow on her crease. Since her eyes are quite small, the brown eyeshadow will allow an illusion of a more wide-eyed look. I also used the same eyeliners on her, except that I used white eyeliner on her lower waterline. Again, this will make her eyes look bigger and brighter.

Thanks AGAIN to my friends - Janna for some of the photos, Ivorie and her siblings who helped out SO much, and Ciara who helped style the shoot. I'm really looking forward to our next shoot! Avant Garde! Yay! :)
